I participated in several exhibitions of handicrafts w my son, but do not feel that this is the right audience ... What should I do? I create a wide variety of art thread ... from jewelry to candlesticks and more. I attended several arts and crafts shows on the screen of my art and I talk a lot of good things about my business ... but not many people who buy it. I was also told that the art for young people ... Hip ... (Non-placemats and dish towels) crowd. How do I find the right place for my art ... other than a craft show of Grandma? (I say this as the most polite)
If you really believe that you have to reach a younger audience, try to locate and display your art in the halls of colleges and universities.
adding that said g, search for shops near colleges and universities who could sell the work for you as museum shops and galleries and tourist attractions
Even a whole season only craft fairs may not be enough for you to get the "feel" where your work can sell. It can also take a little longer for word of mouth about your product to circulate.
One thing that is important is to be able to contact you between shows. If someone sees your art, purchased by a friend, or if a previous custome wants to buy more, it will serve you well for them to have to wait for the next show to find you. Consider mail order. Develop a detailed catalog or brochure. Designing a web site, and, of course, continue to promote your business AWAY, and outside the craft market show TE.
If done correctly, the money you spend submitting your work in a craft show can be seen as a promotion for your mail. Use the clock to establish contacts and network your business. Even your competitors can help you if your pieces are unique and different than yours. To know them, if there are other points of distribution they use.
Meanwhile, learn more about licensing vendors to concerts and other musical venues. Consider distributors in other events such as monster truck shows, car races and motorcycle and car shows. Perhaps, even, to develop a product that fits into these places.
Good luck. The season starts now an art exhibit, and was built as we appoach.
Try selling on the Internet. In addition, as some others have said check the colleges near you. Some are ready to present local arts and crafts that are for sale. There are also several art galleries that sell local art to a percentage of profits.
