What is fried? Fried is an industry term for paint that is applied around the edges of automobile glass. One key ingredient of the frit glass is a ceramic particle that combines the surface of the glass that makes it a very durable and scratch resistant surface.

Why frit (paint) on the glass? Fried plays two roles on the glass. First, it is a cosmetic that is used to hide the interior details and trim pinchweld. Early models of vehicles used to mask off trim what would otherwise exposed areas. That moldings have become smaller to the point of non-existence of several current models, the frit had a greater role in unfinished areas of the vehicle. Second, the frit inhibits UV degradation of urethane adhesives. Although the frit will not completely block the UV rays to pass through the glass, he does significantly reduce transmission of UV light. Most urethanes are not UV stable. If urethane is left exposed to sunlight for long periods of time, it will turn yellow and lime. Presence of the frit will extend the life of the adhesive system urethane.

How many types of frits are they? There are hundreds of types of frits developed for automotive glass applications. The automotive glass frits most common that we use are black, gray and white, but other colors are available. Fried pasta is developed to work in conjunction with the processing requirements necessary for a specific part. Each batter is developed for the furnace and the specific parameters of temperature used to manufacture parts in a manufacturing site. It is not uncommon for a glass manufacturing plant to work with a dozen different pasta frit.

How is applied to the glass frit? Frit is applied to the glass using a silkscreen method. It is very similar to the method used for the silk screen T-shirts. An image of the design is developed for sintered glass shaped folded or bent. Then, the image is unwrapped and flattened. A silk screen is made to allow the frit to pass through the openings of the screen. The apertures correspond to the image of final design. The frit is a thick paste which is put on the screen. Squeegees are used to push the dough through the openings frit and glass screen. Frit is applied to the glass while it is flat position prior to treatment in the oven. The oven can cure the frit and fuse it to the glass surface. Each part of each design has a different silk screen only. works are constantly maintained throughout the life of a party. Due to the fragile nature of screens, they often wear out and need to be redone for the duration of a part of the production.

What is the glass batch? Batch is a term glass reference that identifies some of the manufacturing process. The primary components of glass are correctly proportioned and mixed in batches for delivery to the oven. Even if the glass is made in a continuous process that operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, raw materials are added as needed in batches. To say that the glass is a glass batch, this implies that there is no post fabrication materials, ie a film or a coating applied to the glass. Batch glass becomes all its features from the raw materials that are used to make glass. In the case of privacy or solar glass batch, colorants and UV inhibitors dark mixed with ingredients of the batch to make glass.

What is the float? refers to the float glass manufacturing process. The primary components of glass are melted in an oven at a temperature range of 240OF to 2850 F. A continuous process is established that the molten glass is removed from the oven tin bath where it is supported on molten tin until the glass cools the state of the slurry at a temperature where the glass B.
