What should I add to gouache, or what paint should I use to paint a flower pot? I want to know what the painting or what to add to gouache to paint a flower pot? Can I use paint poster? nobody knows? thank you x
On an unglazed pot, you can certainly use gouache. Some of the basic color of the pot itself could show through, so you may have to let the poster dry paint to add more color if you want more light.
Once you're done, if you want to help paint permanent residence in the flower pot, let the paint dry completely, then painted with an acrylic varnish (also based on water for easy cleaning). You can usually find this type of acrylic medium to your local art or craft stores, and not just in art supply places online.
I did it for Mother's Day gift for my mother and she always uses the flower pot 6 years later and the colors have faded a bit of sun, but it just seems cool and the type of people aged naturally. Very pretty.
Good luck!
Gouache is water based, so you need to use water that thin.
it will be ok to paint a flower pot, but not iced need a couple coats because your pot will Porus. your first thin layer, then put a layer normal the next if needed!
Happy Easter.
Because the pain is non-toxic.
If you paint a terra cotta (clay orange) jar of your first coat of paint can be absorbed. That's why you want to use a non-toxic paint, so it will not kill your plant or disgust.
One thing I've heard to do is paint the clay pot full of a base color and let dry, then you have some sort of primer on the pot. Now, when dry, you can paint with other colors and designs you want with less absorption.
Martha Stewart says to paint clay pots with a 50/50 mixture of mayonnaise and water. Then when it dries it gives the pot in a green patina to simulate aging. It is only if you are looking for this instead of the current painting.
If you paint a ceramic pot or nonporous, you can use any type of pain you want, just do not paint the inside of the pot.
You gouache mixed with the PVA glue. This will make it look shiny and helps to seal the paint.
First get a good mix of terracotta and salmon burnt sienna, then all the paint is still wet on the canvas, dust, talc and when dry to remove excess, it will give the appearance of your limestone after.
