Painting wicker furniture advice is needed ...? We have the natural look of wicker furniture that we want the black paint. Need advice.
Do we need to start first?
Should I use oil or latex?
Should I use any type of cleaner / polish b-4 we paint?
My husband seems to think that we must first use an old nail polish off, but it is so altered that I know it will be easy to paint, and he thinks we need oil painting base. I try to explain that the base oil is a nightmare and that we really do not need the first because it is natural and we take it black. I am surprised at his lack of knowledge about painting b / c of the REASON for booting is to ensure that your have the true color. Painted red with primer allows a "clean slate" by sey, but governance Paintin natural with black is a sort of tabula rasa.
Anyway, it's a nighmare turnign. I almost want to just sell wicker furniture on ebay and buy a new one. This project could eventually cost us our marrige (ha-ha).
Help
OK so you think First start with a clean slate, and you do not necessarily. Here is a foolproof method. Use a gun and spray paint primer on it Kilzer. You can buy it at Home Depot or Lowe's. I can paint using "rustoleum" This is a brand of spray paint, which is thicker paint, and will not rust or weather. It is ideal for outdoor rooms! I recommend this to my clients. You do not listen to my advice above, but whatever you do, do not use oil base paint! It does not adhere to the wicker furniture and just ruin so bad that in the end of the garbage collectors do not want to take it!
