Painting wood paneling? I live in a caravan with wood I want to paint it and make it look less trailery and more soft and comfortable .. ideas of what a little paint to use and all websites to help me find ideas for color
I have an old house, built in 1915. Back in the 70 previous owners covered the walls of each room with dark wood paneling. I just painted all the walls with a shiny paint happy and it looks great. The first thing you have to wash the panels down. a solution of ammonia and water is fine, then you must wear light coating with sandpaper sand or an abrasive sponge. Then you need to boot the walls with a water based product such as Kilzer 2. You may need to use 2 layers of the best coverage. Now the paint dry. Use a latex paint. Just a tip, if you have a med dark paint, the paint store tint the primer the same color as your paint for a smoother application. Sounds like a lot of steps, but they are important because wood contains natural oils and bleed through the paint if it is not preped. It is worth it, believe me!
You'll love the results. Good painting!
We recently painted wood paneling in our bathroom - we went for the painting eggshell. The range of colors they offer is fab. This painting can be cleaned and is durable. Sorry but I can not stay "gloss" paint over !!!!!!!
Here's a site on color to choose:

I lived in a mobile home and painted the woodwork, you must first boot, then it will take 2 coats of paint. Color choices are the same as for any wall, I would go for sage or beige if your real ambition, you can put dope in the grooves and smooth, I did not. He seemed very well with two coats of paint. (Satin, gloss not.) You can also do faux finishing, sponge, rag rolling etc.
