What type of finish is used when the exterior paint trim on a house? I know it's a matter of preference, but what is most common? Semi-gloss would be my bet.
Exterior Semi-Gloss work perfectly. Do not make the work more difficult than it already is.
go to Home Depot and to speak to a specialist who can guide you
This is not just a matter of preference. If the surface has many imperfections, you want to use flat exterior paint, because the gloss and semi-gloss tend to be more visible imperfections. If the surface is in good condition, semi-gloss is the most common.
Your bet is good, but not only preferences but also because semi-gloss cleans better.
Another painting I really fell in love with the outside (if you're in an area where mold is a problem) is Zinnser Permawhite exterior paint. It is a building of high self-priming paint resistant to mildew. They save it with a 5 year warranty NO mold.
I have now used on at least a dozen houses and people are delighted. I put on my own house about 11 months ago and it is as perfect as the day I did.
Try it ...
As a general, I prefer a glossy finish. It makes the plate easier to clean and will not collect nearly as much dust and dirt.
