Is it necessary to cut a mane of horses paint horse shows? I just bought a 3 year paint / quarter horse who is Registerd as a pain and I was going to cut his mane as I've seen and I know how, but I was told that they begin not to cut the mane . I was wondering if it requierd cut or should I leave?
It really depends on the subjects you want to show and in the level with which you compete. As previous answers state in the hunter / jumper ring you are required to have the mane hit 3 inches. In the divisions of the West, it is not as clear. The sundeck and western pleasure horse's mane has always slammed as a hunter, but with the horse of the West, generally the more the better. This changes everything if you're new show at breed shows. If you want to show at this level then it is best to consult the rulebook races. If you will be competing at local shows opened, it is often possible to have a well-kept natural mane.
It depends on what you want to show in.
In tests in English, as in most of the hunters and jumpers, you cut their manes, until about 3-4 cm long. Some braid people, but they also say that it looks tacky if you do.
I'm not familiar with the events of the West, but I think you can braid, tape, draw, or leave the horses with flowing manes.
English requires about a 3 inch mane, Roached, or braided. The tail may be braided or left.
West requires only the mane be maintained and clean. So, a little trim can help. Depending on the strength of the horse's mane is that you can pull the handle more easily.
I keep my horse's super thick mane Roached. to show that we braided tail. A mane Roached is also accepted in the West. Most people do not like the roach but my horse has more beautiful in it. Watch your horse and decide what best compliments him.
