How do I paint my craft consistently? After cooking, my polymer clay projects, I sometimes paint them. I noticed that when I'm painting, they end up looking uneven and sloppy. Some tips on how to paint them regularly?
You have only a small number of variables, try to change them. A better cleaning and preparation, painting different, so different from the application, different drying ..
I think the quality of your paint is to blame. Preparation for painting can be a cause as well. A sub-layer may be advantageous. even several layers of paint you use to develop a thick color that gives a uniform color.
Get some tubes of artists' oil painting from an art supply store. That should do the trick. take one of your poor performance and seek professional advice. You'll be well informed.
I would like to invest in a good quality acrylic "paint. Oil paintings take too long to dry and acrylics are recommended for this clay.
On the other hand, why not buy different colors of clay and prevent the paint? If you use clay as Original White Sculpey, so it will be very fragile after cooking and your creations will not be strong. It would be a shame for them to break after all your efforts. I suggest you go to a clay like Premo Sculpey or Fimo brand. Very Strong after baking and both come in 30 colors.
Good Luck.
Would you be able to spray paint them? When you brush on the paint, it is difficult to control the edges. Every board will act as a scraper and remove the paint more or less than you want. Then you get uneven layers, and short drops.
Spraying allows more control. You can eliminate all the problems associated with brushing. I know from experience restoring furniture. We sprayed on finishes for the best professional results.
