Paint Booth Safety

Paint Booth SafetyConvert hood for spray paint booth?

We have a range hood that is no longer in use. Would it be acceptable (NFPA and health and safety of other standards) to use the hood as a painting booth for small cans of spray paint. A filter holder can be installed at the rear of the hood. Everything is exhausted to the outside.

whatever information you receive, you'll need to check local codes.
if someone complains, and you say: "Well on Yahoo Answers, they said it was fine," you committed to the nut house.

That said, I guess it would be nice. a chemical fume hood should be empty enough for the application.
