Oven PaintBuild a solar oven for 10 Use - Solar Power Under $ cook your food

Looking for ways to save energy and live your life more green? You can cook your food in the sunlight. What's more back-to-earth and off-grid-that? Solar ovens are commercially available and can be very expensive. If you're living green you do not need me to tell you all the things the UN-green ranges and ovens, gas and electric as well. But you may need me to offer an alternative. So here - the simple home made solar oven you can do for under $ 10.

Your list of materials:

Two cardboard boxes of two different sizes (more about that in a second)
4 pieces of flat cardboard (2'-3 'square or rectangular)
scrap cardboard
A small, 18 "wide roll of aluminum foil
A piece of glass double-strength (more about that in a second too)
white paper glue
Black Pan

Now, about those boxes - one of them should be able to fit in with another 2-3 inches of space all around. And what about glass - it should be a half-inch longer and one-half inch wider than your small cardboard box.

A solar oven consists of two parts: the furnace itself and a solar collector.

For the oven:

Paint the inside of your little black box.

Cut your waste cardboard into pieces and line the bottom of the large box with a layer of debris so thick that when you place the small box inside the larger, the smaller lip is approximately one inch below the lip the tallest person.

Once you have the right of your layer of debris size, take this little box in a second if you can fold the flaps in large boxes. Then place the small box inside. Cut however many older devices, you need things in the sides of the little box that you managed to catch him right there.

The glass should make a nice seal when placed on top of the oven, with enough lip that can connect your finger under it to raise and lower the window, if necessary.

To make the solar collector:

Take 4 pieces of flat cardboard (do not use double strength) and cut the anvil (such as Road Runner drops on the head of Wile E. Coyote 'all the time). Adhere to the top of these, outside edge of your solar oven so that the pieces come together in a kind lampshade inverted form. (To do this, glue the two shorter parallel sides of each section to the upper part, the outer edge of the cardboard box. Then glue the edges inclined to each other.)

Glue aluminum foil on the sides facing upward these four components.

And you're done!

To use the oven, simply place the cooked food that you want inside and stand in unity under the sun until thoroughly cooked. Then eat and enjoy your - gas and electricity for free!
