How you repaint a part that frames an oil painting professionally installed? I love the arts, but the piece I bought is professionally framed in a gold painted wood ugly, the framework is complex with sculpted edges and angles, but I would match the paint for others in my house that are professionally framed with white washed wood frames, I look to the rear and do not even know how to begin removing the oil painting of the base ...
Most managers frame shops are "factory" finished feeling really hard durable paint, if the space is not an antique could be a resin or composite, not real wood underneath. some woods such as pine or ash are the most commonly used to look whitewashed.
If you can not afford a new frame, perhaps a sponge white paint diluted to the frame (use painter tape to protect the glass) or take a dry brush and just touch the upper parts of the sculpture with white add a little too white to focus the image so that its not gold
Take a frame shop.
If it's of Fine Arts, take it to a frame shop and have them take the picture, then you can either paint the frame or have another image you prefer. A finely carved frame looks probably better in gold than anything else, however. I get a different frame.
