How long does it take to paint latex floor dry enough to walk on? 2 Furniture save? To install carpet? The floor is wood painted us. The first layer was applied two days ago and the surface is still sticky / tacky. We will apply the second coat today because the instructions on the container of paint that a second layer must be applired within 48 hours.
Silly Might sound, but I would wait a week.
It is the hand of hard to say how long it takes. Time is your biggest factor. If your first coat is still tacky after two days, which tells me that this is probably where you are wet. If you have not already, put some fans in the room. It should contribute to the prose of drying.
How are you going through a sticky sticky floor to paint without damaging the first layer?
You can tell when the paint is fry putting your hand on it. If it still feels cold, it is not dry. Try with a surface that has been painted before, and with the paint you just put on an hour or two before, and you will feel a marked difference.
If I had to put a carpet down on a painted floor, I'd be sure that the paint was very dry, or it will stick to the floor.
I suppose you have high humidity in your home. This will slow the drying time. You may need to be fans to get as much air circulation.
Temperature and humidity, you're too major contributors to how fast it dries. If your area is hot ... close the A / C vent to this room ... turn a ceiling fan, or if you have a fan, you can afford. If it's hot outside ... open some windows. If it is already cool or cold outside .... turn up the heat and turn on more fans to help the soil dry. If your floor is still sticky and viscous ... wait a day to put a second coat on. Regarding the setting furniture on it ... I would wait at least two days after he lost the sticky / tacky feel. I also want to wait another week before I put a rug down. If he has the slightest amount of moisture in ... It softens with the carpet placed on top of it and stick down the carpet.
