Paint interior colors for an old (1906) at home with dark wood trim and floors.? I just bought my first house and I'm in love with her! The only problem is that I get to pick all the paint in the house, I was clueless about what goes well with the black finish. All brochures have white plate and I do not want to paint or alter the original. I have a very dramatic entry into the house and would love to make a statement with it. I like the greens, oranges and blues .... can someone help me please? I must choose my painting tomorrow!
Sherwin Williams has a historical collection of colors. Go to the store and ask to see their Victorian colors. Or go to this site, click on "find color," click on the series 'history' tab on the left, then choose "Victorian" from the dropdown list under "Sort this collection."

Some examples of color are "cabbage rose", "green majolica", "Aqua festoon" and "Deep Purple." This was a very colorful.
Another suggestion is that if you have a museum housing the times in your area, go visit to find decorating ideas. Such as:

They are often used to screen this time, too.
Go to a local home improvement store like Lowe's or Home Depot and get swatches of colors you like and watch them on a dark wood trim - either at home or go to the island and they stain generally have sample boards with different tasks. Some stores even have computer programs that allow you to match colors and toppings.
You are very lucky, your dark wood has not been painted yet. Most homes in this area have already paint on the beautiful wood trim.
I'm so jealous!
I would definitely use green organge, blues as you wanted, but make sure you choose the warm colors and stay away from pastels.
seems surprising red with dark wood.
Hiya!
Sage would be great!
