High Temp Engine Paint

High Temp Engine PaintMy Sportster engine overheating if I use the high temperature engine paint?

I have a 2000 Harley Davidson Sportster engine and I thought to paint with a high temperature engine paint from the auto shop. Is it because my engine overheating? I heard he will be, but I know many people who have done this without any problem. I intend to use the same engine as the paint used on cars. Thank you!

They come painted from the factory, too.

Painting your engine flat black help dissipate heat and runs cooler. A black spreads the heat evenly over the fins so that the air passing over them can carry the heat away more effectively.

you can, and to complete your end good look yet, you can use a cushion attached to a die grinder or a Dremel to bring them back to aluminum. just do not spray on a thick gawdy

used to cause problems, some models have always painted Harley engines.

Nope, no problem, but if your engine is chrome I would keep it that way would be much better.

done all the time

not .. it will not effect the condition that he does not spray the ends of the cooling fins

I tried that. Far better it is powdered.

The HD engine uses a lot of air cooling, adding a layer of paint is a layer of something between the hot metal and the coolant. On a water cooled engine is good, since the engine is dumping its waste heat to the water, then paint the outside of the block is not large. On your Harley, the results can be pretty bad.

My little Honda will never be better by painting the engine, and is a level of participation I do not really want to worry about, but HD riders are another breed. If you wish to proceed, ask around with other runners and see what they think. Listen especially closely to those guys who make their own engine work, or work on them for other riders.

I guess if you do, you want to install a larger oil cooler, and perhaps an extra fan for the new cooler.

Good luck. Drive carefully.

if it is a water-cooled engine that will not be a problem, be very careful to hide it properly before you start, things like valves or seals should not be painted as they may disintegrate chemical paint solvent, thinner, or treatment.
do not want to seem like a brake, but you'll get a much better pro to do it, as if you miss one little thing can cause big problems with your engine, at least if a pro does it covered by your insurance there.
