Folk Art Tree

Posted on April 1, 2010.
Folk Art TreeThere are 3 artists named James Cole. How do I know which artist did my painting? I asked the folk art.

My painting is of a young mother holding a child at the door of his house. A small dog is pulling on the skirt of his mother. Before the door there is grass and trees.

Research can be the first step. James Cole What style would it take to produce this kind of paint? What region of the country, it is from? What few clues in the painting could give an artist or the other? Is one of them still alive? Any relatives or descendants who could be contacted? Is the name a pseudonym?

Just check Yahoo, www.oceansbridge.com is a good site for research painters. I didn't find a James Cole, but there is a Thomas Cole of the Hudson River School of painting. Try it

Do you know the name of the painting?
If yes, have you tried to search the title of the painting?

The artist has a middle name?
