The psychology of color: How to choose paint colors for home The color of any room in your home affects how you feel everything in this room. Choosing paint colors can be frustratingly difficult to prove, unless you take the time to answer some questions before going to select your colors.
Start by examining your furniture. Carpets, furniture, window coverings and other fabrics that will stay in the room should be the starting point for your color palette. Repaint the walls and ceilings is a relatively inexpensive way to change the look of a room without completely rely on. Choose three to four colors maximum (too many colors give the room an air of busy and cluttered together) and the base color on what's going to room furnishings.
Consider that the ceiling should not be white. Generally, ceilings are of lighter color of paint in a room because light colors give the impression of more space and dark colors tend to visually "lower" the ceiling, giving the smaller room, feel more intimate and warm. The same principle applies to darker colors on the walls. Dark walls make the room seem smaller while light colors make the room seem large.
Warm colors are red, yellow and orange. Cool colors are blue, green and purple. The study of color in ancient cultures found that red stimulates the body and mind, and increases heart rate and blood circulation. Yellow stimulates the nerves. Orange is believed to increase energy levels and heal the lungs. Blue is considered soothing and help relieve pain. Purple has been thought to lower body temperature and cause the rest.
Orange is a combination of red and yellow. It is to capture attention, creates a sense of balance, is reminiscent of autumn and Halloween, expresses the energy and excitement. This is a good color for a recreation room, but probably not the best choice for a main color in a living room, dining room or bedroom.
Red is definitely the color of energy. Studies show that red stimulates conversation. It allows a dramatic first impression. It can also increase blood pressure and hear rate. It can also foster feelings of hostility or anger, to choose the colors of the family to read and use with cheerful colors to compensate.
The colors range from blue across a pale, soft baby blue to a rich, deep royal blue. They represent the calm and harmony, loyalty and security. Blue can also cause depression in some people. It can lower blood pressure and heart rate.
Black is the absence of color. In the house, it evokes sophistication and formality. When combined with animal prints, it can become a color rather sexy. It is considered part of the family that also includes a neutral gray, white, brown and all its nuances associated. It is a basic color and very flexible, but must be used in small doses unless you really know what you are doing.
Green is the color most easy on the eyes. It fits virtually any room in the house, in the shade right. Green has a calming effect and has been quoted as having healing powers, which could explain why most surgeons wear green scrubs. In many cultures it represents good fortune. It is certainly the basic color of choice for Mother Nature.
Yellow is the color of happiness, sunshine and optimism. He makes a good secondary color or accent in most rooms, and is especially nice in a kitchen. However, if you have a question mood, yellow has been known to excite the mind. Also, the babies would cry more in a bright yellow room. There is also a color that is more difficult for the eyes.
White is the color of purity and simplicity, cleanliness and sterility. If you want to create a spartan, open minimalist look, white is your color.
In conclusion, the choice of colors in your home is very personal and you can tell what works.
