MarketplaceCar Interior Spray PaintPosted on February 18, 2010. I want to redo my interior panels of the car on my 260z will spray paint vinyl be effective and quality? I intend to clean and spray paint my interior panels of cobalt blue, instead of root beer brown stock. Have you any suggestions on car interiors re-painting? Absolutely. In fact, plant dyes most of the panels themselves. I used colors of vinyl for many cars. The biggest problem is the choice of colors. I found by trial and error, that VHT is the best brand for dyeing vinyl. It goes on Nice and does not accumulate as paint, so it looks like a factory finish. A good choice is the mark DupliColor seconds. You can find them at auto shop mostly got mine at Schuck. I also used Krylon paint plastic melting, but it is not as durable as the VHT vinyl dye. For example, I changed my color within the Yukon from an ugly gray satin black and red. Samples of control here. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2769516 Red is the Krylon Fusion DupliColor more red dye and black is pure black satin VHT. Now, to do the right things, all of the trim must be removed and cleaned thoroughly to remove all dirt and if its scratched, lightly sanded. It has strong toxic fumes when spraying, so in a well ventilated area, and I do recommend that you use some sort of resperator. If you use Krylon Fusion, take your time and spray several layers according to the instructions for a beautiful finish without too implement. I turned the dye job nearly a year and drive the wheels of my truck per day, and it has not faded or scratched. Good luck with it and have a nice day
