Paints and paint products Until this century, the range of paints available was extremely limited. We now have a wide range of choices.
Prior to this century or whitewash of lime treatments were the most common wall. Both are still available today, and coated with lime, in particular, is well worth experimenting with. It has a beautiful soft finish and chalky and also has the huge advantage that allows water to evaporate through it, making it ideal for older homes where it is vital that the walls breathe.
Today, most people use latex paint for walls. These come in various types. The best known is matte vinyl, but there are others that have been designed for a specific area, such as kitchens and bathrooms, or produce a particular finish, like silk or vinyl Soft Sheen
There are literally thousands of colors available, ranging from very brash, bright modern colors to more subtle tones history. tables of paints to use to see how different colors work together. It is also possible to create your own color tinting emulsion with color displays, gouache artists, acrylic, pigments or coloring universal.
For other areas of the house, such as wood, oil paintings must be used. Among these the most famous is brilliant, which produces a high gloss finish. For a more muted luster, there are shells (suitable for walls and woodwork) and, finally, flat or matte oil. All this requires a sub-layer oil-based. To achieve a rich, glossy enamel lacquer is ideal. It can be used on metal or wood, but is much more expensive and richer than regular gloss, is best reserved for small areas. textured paints are useful for areas that are rough or irregular. They are very thick and can be difficult to remove in case of change of decoration is needed.
Enamels and washing add an extra dimension to a wall or wood, providing a wealth of color, brightness and depth not found in a flat plain paint. They can also be used to imitate wood, stone and marble. Three types of coatings are available - gloss, semi-gloss and matt. All are made from polyurethane, and all produce the same effect transparent. Traditionally, people have mixed their glaze, but it is now available pre-prepared. An oil-based varnish is the best method of broken paint effects such as ragging, dragging and stippling to name a few. Glazes new water-based are easier to implement, but will never achieve the same effect as opaque oil-based glazes.
Last but not least, do not forget about using stencils and stamps to create patterns on a surface. These can be used in any room of the house, and can be used to create both modern and traditional style interiors. Again products specially formulated to give the amateur decorator's ability to produce professional results.
